With „The Iron Maiden“, wes returned to our roots while connecting past and present. This limited 7″ vinyl is more than a cover release – it captures an important chapter from our early days as a band!
Between 1995 and 1996, our version of Iron Maiden was a regular part of our live set. Back then, with only the material from the Sylphlike demo MCD available, cover songs helped us extend our shows.
The B-side looks back as well: „A Spark In The Crimson Eclipse“ was one of our first original songs, written shortly after „Sylphlike“ in 1995/96. Together with „Iron Maiden“, it soon became a live favorite. Both tracks later appeared on the strictly limited „Razor“ 7″ in 1996, now a cult release among collectors. The song was rerecorded for the sold-out 2020 studio album Dawnlight Garden.
Now these pieces of our history return in a limited edition of only 300 copies on black/red “Corona” 7″ vinyl. The color design matches the dark, detailed artwork by Simon Bossert, making this a highly collectible release. ITs still available at our shows and HERE
This special release pays tribute to our origins – honest and deeply rooted in the spirit of where it all began.
Thirty years ago, we started our journey with our self-produced demo MCD called ‘Sylphlike’, which fortunately continues to this day. At that time, when letters were still sent through the worldwide paper & pen underground, we were very busy getting the word out (at times, we sent 30-40 mailings a day). And since melodic death metal was the hot shit back then, demand was correspondingly high, and we pressed several more times, reaching a total of 7,000 units sold—simply unbelievable!
And since not only the band but also ‘Sylphlike’ is turning 30 this year, we had the brilliant idea of re-recording the entire material and re-releasing it as an official release. And since our last album, Shadowreaper, was so well received by you, we worked with Fredrik Nordström / Studio Fredman (At The Gates, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity) again for the mixing and mastering and with Paolo Girardi again for the artwork. The latter hand-painted the original photograph of the artwork and breathed ominous life into it. We hope you like it as much as we do!

Six years as a Web Magazine! Six years as a Radio! Six years as a Metal community in Facebook! The Metal family of THE GALLERY celebrates 6 (66) years of existence and is hosting its first official Festival.
To mark this celebration, the event will feature some of the most renowned and respected bands from the Greek Metal scene, along with the addition of a beloved German band making its first-ever appearance in Greece! Specifically, AMKEN, DEVISER, NIGHT IN GALES, and ON THORNS I LAY will complete the lineup for THE GALLERY’s first festival!
A few words about the bands, in the order of their appearance at the festival:
AMKEN (GR) The Athens-based AMKEN blend technical old-school Thrash Metal with a modern sound, keeping the roots of the genre alive. With a strong live presence across Greece, Europe, and Japan, they have shared the stage with legendary bands such as SODOM, DESTRUCTION, FLOTSAM & JETSAM, and GORGOROTH. Discographically, they boast two full-length albums, an EP, and a split, with their most recent work being the powerful 2022 album „Passive Aggression“.
DEVISER (GR) DEVISER was created in 1989, with roots in pure Black Metal. In 1992, with the addition of members from AGATUS and RIRANHA, they sparked the interest of the underground scene. Their first EP, *The Revelation of Higher Mysteries*, was released in 1994 and was accompanied by a short European tour that same year. Their debut album, *Unspeakable Cults* (1996), made a strong impact on melodic Black Metal enthusiasts, receiving outstanding reviews internationally. After three more full-length releases and a hiatus in 2011, DEVISER returned to the spotlight in 2017 with the EP *Howling Flames* and their fifth album, *Evil Summons Evil*, which was released in 2023 through Hammerheart Records.
NIGHT IN GALES (GER) NIGHT IN GALES is one of Germany’s most important melodic Death Metal bands. Their discography began in 1995 with the successful EP “Sylphlike”. Their brilliant debut album “Towards The Twilight” was released in 1997 via Nuclear Blast Records, after which the band toured with acts such as IN FLAMES, HYPOCRISY, CHILDREN OF BODOM, SINISTER, and DEATH. This was followed by the release of their second album “Thunderbeast” in 1998, once again through Nuclear Blast. They then embarked on another tour with DISMEMBER and CHILDREN OF BODOM, performing at some major European festivals like Wacken Open Air and Summer Breeze. Over the years, they have released a total of nine albums, with contributions from some of the genre’s finest producers, including Dan Swano and Fredrik Nordstrom. Their most recent and ninth studio album, “Shadowreaper”, was released on December 6th, 2024, through Apostasy Records. After a thirty-year career, this will be their first time performing in Greece.
ON THORNS I LAY (GR) ON THORNS I LAY is one of Greece’s most significant Doom/Death Metal bands, having released a total of ten full-length albums. Key moments in their discography include the groundbreaking Orama (1997), the best-selling Crystal Tears (1999), and their more recent works “Aegean Sorrow”, “Threnos”, and “On Thorns I Lay”, through which the band rightfully earned their place among the elite of Extreme music. Having previously shared the stage with major names such as ROTTING CHRIST, DREAM THEATER, IN FLAMES, SATYRICON, and SEPTIC FLESH, they are now part of Season of Mist’s roster. Currently, the band is in the process of recording its new album, which is expected to be released in the coming months.

‚Shadowreaper‘ is in the official German album charts! It’s the third NIGHT IN GALES album in a row to achieve this honor, who would have thought? We certainly not!

At first we thought it was one of those bad jokes of our label boss Tomasz, and he made us guess 5 times which rank we would have reached probably in the soundcheck of the current Rock Hard magazine with our soon to be released new album ‘Shadowreaper’… When he then sent us the screenshot of the preliminary results table, we completely fell off the wagon, escalated, slipped off our stools! F**k yeah – we finally did that thing!
Never, really never, after 29 years in this band and this business would we have expected this, which for any band (big earners and 80s icons included!) still means something big like an accolade or a trophy.
We are very proud and at the same time very grateful to have an environment and a team that supports us in everything we do and that made this possible in the first place, especially our tirelessly striving label of good taste: Apostasy Records!

“The Black Stream” continues to walk the path we set out on with “The Last Sunsets” but also added some new flavors here and there.
We once again worked with Dan Swanö (this man needs no introduction) who added the perfect sound to all 11 tracks with his mix and master. The artwork was also done by a well-known name in the worldwide metal-scene and also in the world of NIGHT IN GALES – Costin Chioreanu – who outdid himself once again.
